Learn how to apply this type of decal
NOTE: Larger arts may require you to cut into segments for an easier install.
Your vinyl arrives as a pre-spaced sheet of letters made of three layers.
1. Top Layer - or transfer plastic tape (through which you can see the letters) - will not be on the Large Trees
2. Middle Layer - the vinyl letters or decals themselves
3. Bottom Layer - White/Blue backing paper
When you receive your order, gently press the vinyl sheet flat before proceeding with the instructions.
Position your letters
Find the center of the area you wish to apply your wall words and lightly mark it with a pencil. Position your vinyl sheet on the wall. Use a level to ensure the letters are straight (line the level up with the LETTERS, NOT the packing paper). Make several small pencil marks on the wall, along the top of the decal
Remove the Backing
Take down your lettering and lay it face down on a flat surface. With your application tool (or credit card), gently but firmly run over the paper backing one more time to ensure the letters are adhering to the tape on the front.
Rub Letters Onto Wall
Carefully remove the paper backing, then place the design back onto your wall. Aligh the top of the tape with the pencil marks you previously made. Next take a squeegee or similar tool (credit card) and firmly go over your decal (application tape still on). Work from the center out on both sides. Now get a damp cloth and rub it over the application tape. This will help release the application tape from the vinyl.
Peel Off Transfer Tape
Starting at a corner, slowly peel back the application tape, pulling it BACK INTO ITSELF. (DO NOT pull it straight up off the wall at a 90 degree angle) TAKE YOUR TIME, as this is the most important step. If your letters are still sticking to the tape, lay the tape back down on the wall and run over the letters again with a squeegee or similar tool. NOTE: Heavily textured walls will take more time. Have patience, and go slowly.
Once all the tape is removed, erase any pencil marks that were made. Now sit back and enjoy your new wall art that will impress all your family, friends, and guests.
Common Application Issues:
-Applying vinyl to a moderately textured surface.
If the surface is lightly to moderately textured, try using a blow-dryer on the low heat setting to warm up the surface before applying vinyl. Always use caution when applying heat, and run dryer on the lowest setting.
-Vinyl is curled from shipping.
This is common. Allow vinyl to "relax" on a flat surface. Place heavy objects (example: books) on top to speed up the process. We mail our decals rolled FACE OUT so your decal is easier to apply.
Begin by heating one corner of the marking with a blow dryer, heat lamp, hot water or heat gun until hot to the touch. Pick up and lift that area you just heated (use a razor only on glass surfaces). Slowly begin pulling back the decal, at less than a 90 degree angle. Continue applying heat to the area just before the area that is being removed.
